Classic Romance Revival & CRR Publishing
"Giving Wings to Classic Romance"
Breaking News!
CRR Publishing launches officially on 7th April 2010 as a partner to Classic Romance Revival.
The winner in the full length section of this contest will now win a publishing contract for our First Flight imprint along with a three-month book promotion package!
The top stories from our Short Story category will be published in CRR's "First Flight" anthology.
As part of our commitment to "growing the Classic Romance Genre", CRR has put together our First Flight Contest, specifically created for aspiring authors who have not yet been published, or been offered a publishing contract.
Over the next few months you will have the opportunity to showcase your writing skills and your works in progress, and stand in line to win the Classic Romance Revival "First Flight" award.  Not only that, the top stories from our Short Story category will be published in CRR's "First Flight" anthology.
We hope to make this an ongoing contest, a regular opportunity for aspiring authors to reach readers and, hopefully, other publishers as well.  Please read the rules below carefully before registering for the contest.
 Guidelines:  How It Works
* The Contest is divided into two sections, novel-length and short stories.  You must participate in both.  The reason for this is simple:  A short story requires an economy of words, and challenges an author in this respect.  It is a wonderful reflection of your skill and talent as a writer. *
*  Contestants will be required to post a minimum of one, and a maximum of three excerpts, per week from 1st April through to 31st May 2010, to each category (short story and novel-length) *
 * Excerpts must be between 500 and 1000 words - this means, for example, that you cannot post an entire scene and will need to "cut" at a particular and logical point - another test of skill*
* Ratings and comments will be enabled for each submission, and these will go towards the overall votes for the contest winner *
* Voting will consist of three parts - visitors and invited judges, and "secret scouts"  Visitors vote first, and their selection will determine our finalists.  The judges will vote in the second round. The secret scouts will select our "Classic Contenders" who will go through to the final round (these will only be announced at the end of the first round voting).  Voting will be on works submitted not authors, in the event that an author has more than one entry  *
* You may submit more than one work in each section - just keep in mind the  posting requirements and be sure you can keep up the pace! *
*  Once you have emailed your registration, you will receive an email with a link to register and login on site to upload your excerpts.  A special form will be provided for this to keep things simple *
Rules of the Contest
 * Contestants must be over the age of 18 years old *
* Contestants must be unpublished, i.e. not formally contracted by any publisher, whether the work in question has been released yet or not *
* Submissions must fall within our category ratings of sweet, sensual or sophisticated - for details of these category ratings please click here *
 * Short stories must be a minimum of 5000 and a maximum of 1000 words in length *
* You may register for the contest up until 30th April 2010 *
* There is a $5 non-refundable Registration Fee, payable via the link below.  Why?  First, in ensures that contestants are serious about their entry - a lot of work goes into hosting and managing a contest of this nature, and committed contestants avoid a lot of wasted time.  Second, it helps to cover the admin costs.  Not sure?  Think about what you get in return - two full months of your work out there for the world to see, the chance of having your short story and your book published and, if you're our winner, of a three month promotion package for your book.  Plus, winners receive the CRR First Flight Award and will be showcased on the website for a full month following the final announcement. A pretty good deal all round... *
 * Winners will be announced on Sunday 4th July on the website and notified via email *
*  The Judges' decision is final *
